The Ancient Order of Hibernians window was installed in May, 1989, and was the first commissioned work by Daniel Maher Stained Glass. The window was co-designed and fabricated by Dan Maher and Nancy Nicholson, a former 10-year member of the studio. The window depicts the traditional "greeting/helping hand" on a field of shamrocks with the harp of Brian Boru at the center. The original seal was too formal so our design interpretation included a more natural arm pose, the addition of the Celtic knot above the hands, the Celtic weave around the medallion, the addition of the four seals in the corners and the two anthropomorphic figures holding the seals and center medallion. The window greets visitors in the entry hall of the AOH in Watertown, MA. View more Representational windows Back to gallery of commissioned windows
