The Vaseline Fish is one of seven of our windows in the Perlo residence in Arlington, Massachusetts. The window depicts a wrasse that is fabricated in dichroic, Blenko and found glass objects. The luminous light blue rays are cut from a plate the owner found and insisted we destroy. The coral reef is composed of pieces of depression glass bowls that have been flattened in the kiln. Why the title Vaseline Fish? The hand faceted glass jewel used in the eye, which dates to the late 1800's, is colored with uranium and is often referred to as Vaseline glass because of its unique glowing yellowish-green color.
