This Belcher Mosaic window is part of one of the largest remaining collections of this type of window. In contrast to the leaded or copper foil construction methods, Belcher windows consist of a cast lead matrix. This window is approximately 3' x 7' and is composed of thousands of pieces of glass cut in ½ " triangle shapes and hand faceted glass jewels. On a sunny day the Sanctuary becomes filled with thousands of prismatic rainbows. The restoration included the preservation of the cast lead matrix and an epoxy infusion method to strengthen the window. Back to gallery of restoration projects
